Hamentashen & Wine Pairings

Purim is right around the corner, and whether you're eight or eighty, chances are you'll be snacking on everyone's favorite holiday treat: hamentashen.

But after a day of door-to-door deliveries (and a couple of megillah readings to go with 'em), you might want to reach for more than just a holiday cookie. Here are a few hamentashen and wine pairings to make sure your Purim is filled with just the right amount of celebration, Royal Wine style.

1. Apple Hamentashen+Bartenura Moscato

The famed blue bottle (and number one selling Moscato in America) has hints of pear and apple, making it a perfect complement to apple hamentashen. Pour a glass of this sweet sipper and enjoy with this crisp, not-too-sweet flavor.

2. Orange Marmalade Hamentashin+Herzog Late Harvest Orange Muscat

Can you think of a pairing more perfect than this one? Late Harvest Orange Muscat is ripe with apricot and orange zest, making it sip deliciously well with marmalade filled hamentashen. This wine also has a unique orange color, making it a true stunner in a mishloach manah.

3. Raspberry/Strawberry Hamentashen+Herzog Late Harvest Riesling

Bursting with honey and full, fruit flavor, this late harvest wine is a bit thicker than the Orange Muscat, but still delicate enough to pair with fruit. L'chaim!

4. Chocolate Hamentashen+Shiloh Fort

Chocolate hamentashen definitely bring out the kid in us all, but sipping a bit of Shiloh Fort makes this purim snack an adult affair. "Fort" (Port style wine from Israel), has a heavier consistency than the above wines, making it excellent for the richest hamentashen of them all.
