Try This Wine, Holiday Wine

8 Crazy Nights of Wine, Night 7: Herzog Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon & Yatir Forest

We hope everyone had a beautiful weekend full of family, fried food, and most importantly, plenty of wine.

For the second-to-last night of Chanukah, we've deferred to our Wine Educator, Jay Buchsbaum. Jay (one of the most entertaining wine drinkers around) informed us that tonight, he's having his in-laws over.

Being the good son-in-law that that he is, he's serving two wines that his in-laws love but generally won't purchase for themselves.

Herzog Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 23 months in small oak barrels, adding vanilla and spice to this fruit forward wine. This wine pairs perfectly with rich, heavy food, like steaks, stews, and dark chocolate.

Yatir Forest is another wine that goes well with full-flavored food. In addition to its berry-soaked flavors (you'll get a mouthful of cherries and currants), this wine has a hint of anise and a mineral tang.

Pleasing your in-laws isn't always easy, whoever they are. But with these superb wines, you'll be their favorite child.

If you haven't already, remember to enter our Facebook Chanukah competition! Time is running out, and we now you want those two tickets to New York's Kosher Food & Wine Experience. L'chaim!
